Option A: Guatemala Luiz roldan – Yellow Catuai
Impressions: yellow plum, golden delicious, cantaloupe, marzipan
Roast degree: light (2/5)
Country: Guatemala
Region: Casillas, Santa Rosa
Farm: El Durazno
Farmer: Luis Roldan
Variety: Yellow Catuai
Process: Washed
Partner Importer: Semilla
The coffees we buy from Luis holds a special place for us. It is the first coffee we bought from Semilla – 5 years ago already! – to support the important work they are doing by bringing peripheral smallholder farmers to the forefront.
Even though Semilla’s work is important in all the origins they work in, the adversity faced by these farmers in Guatemala stands out, and we had to get behind their efforts to break the coffee paradigm keeping millions in poverty.
This group of Indigenous Xinka people are interested in developing an international market for their coffee, and therefore finally receiving fair prices for their work.
Five harvests ago, Luis had never sold coffee on the international market. He had 14 bags ready for export, and we took them all. And these 14 bags from one producer lead to us now buying around 100 bags yearly from smallholders in the region, making these lots the most impactful on our menu.

For a 5th year, the return of the Guiben honey!
One of our longest 🫱🏻🫲🏼 partnership at origin. TianCai, the farm manager and overall genius behind the processing, farming and quality control of those coffees, aims to connect with buyers that share the same values as the farmer group, which is to develop long term commitment at fair prices.
Even though they are doing some natural and washed processes, which we had in the past, the honey process is the one that’s been performing the best according to TianCai.

Another beautiful lot from the birthplace of coffee. (see also the Shibru Dube lot)
The Mengeshe Gumi producer group received their export license in 2018, but never found someone willing to buy all of their production, something Crop to Cup was happy to do. This brings stability to Mengeshe and his family, as finding committed buyers and gaining market access is often no easy task for smallholders.

Option D: Mexico Jaime & Humberto
Impressions: hibiscus, meringue, orange blossom, red grape
Roast Degree: light (2/5)
Country: Mexico
Region: Oaxaca (San Agustin Loxicha)
Farmers: Humberto Jose Alonso and Jaime Garcia Luis
Varietal: Pluma (typica type cultivar) + Gesha
Process: Washed
Export Partner: Semilla
We are very happy to expand our buying within the newly established Semilla network in Mexico.
This is a blend of 2 coffee farmers who joined forces. By blending their coffee together, Jaime and Humberto make logistics easier and more efficient, insuring a higher pay. This two varietal blend is also incredibly tasty.
The Pluma coffee is a descendant of the first typica trees that were planted in the 17th century, but due to a unique micro climate and rich volcanic soil, it evolved to what is today known as the Pluma de Hidalgo variety. In Mexico, this is even recognize as an official designation of origin. We know this might sound gimmicky, but any added value, even if symbolic, that could benefit farmers income, is a good thing.

Buy Single Origin Pour Over Coffee Bean on Light / Filter Roast
Different roasters have different roasting methodology, skills and preference. There are roasters who roast beans differently for espresso and filter brewing, and there are also roasters who specialize in omni roast where there is only one roasting type suitable for both espresso and filter brewing. In the event that we work with a roaster that only does omni roast, there is a possibility that the same single origins are available on both the espresso and filter coffee box. We recommend this as pour over coffee bean and to be used in drip coffee filter bags.
We Ship Worldwide! If you’re looking for wholesale supplies and if it is important for you to know upfront the range of single origins available, kindly drop us an email to sales@auresso.com.my or Whatsapp to Ramesh at +6016-2081259 with your requirements.

My preference is light roast for filter. I’ve tried a few omni roasts, still prefer light roast.

Got the washed El Salvador Santa Rosa from Onyx. Full on rose florals from the first sip with a surprising amount of fruit acid for how developed the roast is. More developed roast also lends itself nicely with a lingering sweet finish on the tongue hours later
