Cat & Cloud’s journey began in 2015 as a scrappy web store, roasting after-hours at a friend’s facility and relying on a $34,000 Kickstarter campaign to open their first Santa Cruz cafe.
Their foundation is rooted in elite coffee competition excellence. Co-founder Chris Baca is a former Regional Barista Champion, three-time United States Barista Competition Finalist, and Latte Art Champion, while Jared Truby is also a decorated barista competition winner. Today, they have channeled that competitive edge into a thriving multi-cafe roastery, a popular industry podcast, and an expanded flagship roasting facility.
