For the month of April 2021, we are featuring specialty coffee beans from Mutley & Jacks for our International Guest Coffee Roaster offering.
Founded in Stockholm in 2017 Muttley & Jack’s is a prize winning micro-roastery delivering hand-roasted speciality grade coffee to homes and cafes throughout Europe. We aim to live the values of quality, transparency and approachability in all that we do.
Jack spent 15 years working with humanitarian and environmental not-for profit organisations before devoting himself full-time to his passion for speciality coffee. The values that led him to work in the nonprofit world are the very same values that drew him to the speciality coffee business:
“We all want a sustainable planet where people live in dignity and in harmony with nature. When done correctly coffee can be so much more than a delicious drink – it’s a way to have a positive uplifting effect on people’s lives at every step along the chain.”
Jack began coffee roasting some years back while spending time on a Rwandan coffee farm. Since then he has sought to understand more about the complex, wonderful alchemy that goes into creating a perfectly roasted bean. He has spent time learning from great roasters in Dublin and Berlin and won the silver medal in the Swedish Coffee Roasting Championships in 2017.
Aside from coffee Jack’s great love is a Boston Terrier named Muttley. This four-legged bundle of energy serves as a constant reminder that life is there to be enjoyed, running about in the forest, delighting in the company of friends or curled up in front of a cosy fire. And that life is too short to drink bad coffee.
