50% Organic Peruvian cocoa

Sourced from Peru, the deep red colour of Unicorn Tears is indicative of top grade bean varieties in this world renowned cocoa growing region. The quality is confirmed with complexity and body, leaving a superfine, true chocolate finish. Additional pure organic Peruvian chocolate flakes are then blended to give that silky rich after taste.

With its rich, true chocolate taste and all natural ingredients, no fillers, starch, added flavours, colours or preservatives. Unicorn Tears is a pure natural indulgence. There is nothing to hide or enhance the flavour of this premium hot chocolate. Pure and simple, GMO Free, Wheat Free, Gluten Free, Exploitation Free.

Fairtrade Raw Organic Cane Sugar, Fairtrade Organic Peruvian Cocoa Powder (30%), Fairtrade Organic Peruvian Chocolate Flakes (20%), Murray River Pink Salt.

Allergens: May be present: milk, soy.

Cane Sugar from Manduvira, Paraguay. Cocoa powder and 100% chocolate flakes from the Tocache region, Peru.

Bean Type: Trinitario, Criollo, Forastero.
Fermentation Style: Wooden Box.
Drying Style: Open air on tarps.
Made / Blended in Melbourne, Australia

Espresso Instructions

In your milk pitcher, add 20g of Unicorn Tears 50% and 150g of cold fresh milk. Give it a few stirs to ensure the powders mixes evenly with the milk. Steam together with the milk to 68deg C. This blends the cocoa and thickens it up.

Garnish with freshly grated chocolate.

For Home Recipe

Make a smooth paste with a small amount of hot water and 2 tablespoon (roughly 20g) of Koko Deluxe.

Mix slowly with hot milk, stirring constantly as you add the milk to the paste.

Sprinkle some chocolate on top. Enjoy 🙂

Good cocoa quality. Chose the least amount of cocoa for my kids. Sweetness level is just right. They love it.

  Thank you for the kind review. The premium Mofo deluxe 50% is less sweet too as it uses organic coconut blossom sugar instead of cane sugar

About The Original Cocoa Traders

In late 2005, Gabe Davidson and two kiwi barista friends had a handful of tiny espresso bars dotted around Melbourne's cheapest, most unwanted city laneways. As their reputation for great coffee started to grow, their attention turned to the drinking chocolate on offer, and they soon realised that the products available were substandard: full of potato or corn starch, milk powders (used as cheap bulking agents) and numerous artificial flavours and colours mixed in.

They got their kiwi on and began experimenting to develop their own gluten-free, nut-free, dairy-free, high cocoa fat drinking chocolate - that at the time was close to revolutionary.

The Original Cocoa Traders was established and the deeply flavoursome drinking chocolate blends now known as Koko Deluxe, Mofo Deluxe and the new Mofo Deluxe Premium (cane sugar free) are sold in Australia, New York, London, Japan, Singapore and, of course, throughout Gabe's home country of New Zealand.
